Dr Jamie Byrne
BSci (Hons), Grad Dip (Psych), MBus, PhD (Clin Psych)
Dr. Jamie Byrne (pronouns: she/her) is a registered clinical psychologist who works with adolescents (12+) and adults. She has experience working with a range of concerns including: mood, anxiety, sleep, trauma, substance use, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
Jamie takes a humanistic and positive psychology approach to her practice. In developing a working relationship with clients, she values collaboration, authenticity, respect, and empathy. Jamie draws on a range of evidence-based approaches to collaboratively develop an individually-tailored treatment plan suited to the needs of each client. Her approach is to consider mental health concerns in the broader context of an individual’s life, personal narrative, and current circumstances.
Jamie concurrently holds a lecturer position at Deakin University where her research examines the interaction between sleep, circadian rhythms (the body clock), and the reward system. She also runs workshops in the community and organisations emphasising the role of sleep and school/work scheduling on learning, creativity, physical outcomes, and mental health across the lifespan. Jamie is also available for gender assessments for individuals who may require this as part of their gender affirmation/transition process.
Jamie is available for telehealth and face to face appointments.
The cost of a 50-minute consultation with Jamie is $210.00, which is payable at the end of the session by cash, EFTPOS, or credit card. If referred by a G.P. along with a Mental Health Care Plan, or by a psychiatrist, clients receive a rebate of $129.55 per session via Medicare. This will be processed at the end of each session. Up to 20 Medicare-rebated sessions can be claimed in the 2021 calendar year. Alternatively, clients may wish to claim the consultation fee under private health cover, WorkCover, or TAC, if these options are available to them.
